Stock market : Jet Airways

Jet Airways, plans to tap other avenues for mopping up funds. The listed airline company said its board has decided to ask shareholders clearance for mopping up funds from overseas investors, via issue of ADRs/GDRs or FCCB or through Qualified Institutional Placements. In a notice to the stock exchanges, Jet Airways said it would ask the clearance through a postal ballot.

Jet has been planning the rights issue to fund the induction of aircraft and the take over of Air Sahara, which it concluded last year. As their debt:equity ratio is 5:1, the company requires to divest equity to further fund its expansion plans.

Sonata Software Ltd has informed that a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Company will be held on April 17, 2008, inter alia, to consider, the audited results for the quarter and financial year ended March 31, 2008 and recommendation of final dividend for the financial year 2007-08.

Overall Stock Market

The market today opens lower after a sharp upward journey yesterday. The selling pressure emerged in the selective scrips mainly led by the Capital Goods, FMCG and IT stocks. However, the Realty and Metal stocks are trading Stock Overall Stock Market
marginally higher in the morning trade. The broader market has outperformed the benchmark index in the opening trade as the Mid Cap and Small Cap has managed to trade higher.

The overall market breadth is negative as 793 stocks are advancing whereas 824 stocks are declining on BSE.

At 10.30AM, the BSE Sensex was down by 176.38 points at 15,580.70 and the Nifty was down by 44.20 points to 4,717.

The BSE Mid Cap increased by 22.10 points to 6,366.82 and the BSE Small Cap advanced by 17.96 points to 7,795.90.

DLF reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack. It is trading with a gain of 1.76% at Rs.628.65 while L&T the top loser declined by 3.19% to Rs.2,633.

BSE Metal index advanced by 17.07 points to trade at 13,828.63. The top gainers are Gujarat NRE inclined by (4.81%) to Rs.169.95, Sterlite Industries increased by (3.07%) at Rs.785.70 followed by JSW Steel up by (0.60%) to Rs.765.05.

BSE Capital Goods index dropped by 168.04 points to trade at 12,587.89. The major losers are L&T, ABB, Praj Industries and Siemens grew by (3.19%), (1.02%), (1.11%) and (0.31%) to Rs.2,633, Rs.1,069, Rs.133.05 and Rs.586.85 respectively.
